December 15th

Again...this is Laura posting what my aunt, Cindi, sends to my email. This is yesterday's update.

Well, I just got home and I am trying to relax. I thought that being at home and going to Medford would be so much nicer, but in a way it seems worse. I think it is because we have to do so much driving back and forth and all the stuff in between gets hard. Now with Jess in the hospital over there I have all this added stress. They are now thinking that the chemo is killing the red cells, which is normal, but for some reason her body is not trying to make any to help out...hmm. It is just crazy to see my daughter like this. I think that it is worse to me because she really doesn't say anything to me, but I can read it all in her eyes, when she looks at me and I want to be able to fix it for her, but can't. I just try to help give her my strength. She did receive two units of blood today before chemo. I am hoping it will help her. They don't want to slow down at all on the chemo because they are afraid the cancer may get into her blood and marrow. There is a shot to help her with her red blood cells, but it also helps the cancer cells grown too. Isn't it crazy?? So what are they going to do now? I really don't know for sure. They were hesitant to say when she is coming out of the hospital. Maybe tomorrow? Please continue your prayers for Jess. Love and God Bless, Cindi

  2. I set up a webpage to collect donations that will be directly deposited in Jessica's bank account. After I set it up, I got an email from one of the founders of giveforward.org who is going to feature my page on their homepage! He wrote:

    Hi Tim,

I had a chance to read your fundraising page and am personally touched by your efforts to help your cousin. To help you out a bit, we decided to make your fundraiser one of our featured projects that will rotate through on our homepage. You won't necessarily start getting lots of donations from strangers, but it does give you an EXCELLENT reason to send an email friends and family with the "exciting news" and ask them to continue giving. Usually our users tell us they see a boost in donations shortly after being featured and sending out an emails to friends and family. Hope this helps!

If there is anything else we can do, please let me know. Also (non-fundraising related) I highly recommend you check out a great one-on-one cancer support organization called Imerman Angels (www.imermanangels.org) (here's an article I wrote a while back about the org http://www.youthnoise.com/playcity/blog/view/19384) They do wonderful work and can pair Jessica up with someone her own age who has beaten the same type of cancer she is going through. I would be happy to put you or Jessica in touch with their executive director who is a friend of mine. Feel free to email me if you think it might be helpful and i will introduce you to him. He's a miracle worker!

Hope this helps! Stay positive!!! We'll be sending all our positive energy from Chicago!

    Sincerely,

    Ethan Austin
