Monday 31st

Hope that everyone has had a nice memorial day. To bad that the weather isn't nicer. Well I just wanted to drop a quick line and let everyone know how Jess is doing. I wrote a long blog yesterday so I really don't have much else to say. Imagine that! :) lol Jess is feeling pretty good today. It seems like right when she gets good they knock her back down again. I guess that that is their way to do things and to keep her strong. She has to be over in Medford tomorrow morning by 8:45 so she will have to get up early and head out. Jon is taking the two days off since her appointment on Weds is at 7:30 am. So there is no sense in coming home just to sleep. Plus it is a spinal day so it could be long and hopefully she is feeling ok to travel. Then they will come home and I think that Pat will be taking Thurs off to take her and then Rob on Fri.... My last day of work is Fri so I will be free to drive her then. Well I will let you know how everything goes tomorrow. Thanks so much for checking in. Please keep her in your prayers. Love, Cindi xoxo

Sorry It Has Been So Long!! May 30th

Hi All!!

Sorry it has been so long... Laura has been out of town, Jess has been having her up and down days, Shane has been doing his last week of tests and senior stuff to graduate, plus he has had multiple baseball games as they went into playoffs which they finally lost on Fri and it was a total bummer...Soo... I finally had some time to catch my breath and write to you all. (hope that you followed all of that!) lol Laura taught me how to do the blog myself but now I don't have her to proof read it first.. :) Well Jess finally lost all of her hair. It was very traumatic for her and for me. I can't believe how upsetting it is. We ran to Medford last week to find her a wig. I had called around first because I didn't want to get over there and have them not have any "younger" style wigs over there. But the one place assured me that they did and it ended up that they had a couple to pick from and they were very wonderful people! So she has a super cute one now :) They are spendy little things and her's was 280.00 but it is so lifelike and if you all could of seen her face as she put it on I would of done anything to make her happy. This is hard enough on her without this happening now. Her face just lit up with happiness. It still makes me smile to think about it :) Her and I finally have our mindset so it is a lot easier to handle now. She is so strong. I don't know how she does it at times. Well she has a big schedule coming up for the next few weeks so please keep her in your prayers. She starts off with chemo the next four days starting Tues plus a spinal on Weds. Thanks so much everyone! God bless, Cindi

May 21st

Hi all,

This will be my only blog for the week unless I figure out how to post one. Laura (my niece) has been kind enough to be doing it for me the last 8 months!! And think she needs to go on a honeymoon in Maui!! lol ;) Jess has been having a lot of ups and downs the last week. This chemo is something else...very, very aggressive it seems. She seems to be doing well some days and then pushes herself to do something with her horses and then she seems to pay for it the next day or two, sometimes. I think she feels like she wants to try to get herself stronger and to be able to keep up with the things she used to do. It has been hard. The steroids have been so hard on her, but it is protocol. She has had quite a bit of weight gain and puffiness; hopefully once she gets on the maintenance chemo, for the next two years she will be able to work it off. I know that it bothers her, but she tries to keep a positive attitude so that is good. She asked her doctor to give her a week off of chemo so that she would feel well at Shane's graduation, but he said no. So that was a bummer. As of Tuesday June 1st she has to have another spinal and then chemo the same day. PLUS for the next three days chemo for the next three days and then the following Monday she has to do it all over again. That will be a hard two weeks! She has had so many spinals that I can't even remember. I think that she will be up to 18 maybe???...Wow! She has also had a lot of hair loss recently and suddenly. It has been bothering her so we are hoping to go look at wigs this weekend. I am off for now and if I can figure out the blog I will keep writing it, otherwise it won't be up until Laura gets back. Thanks so much for checking on Jess and putting her in your prayers. Love to all, Cindi

PS Please check out Heather Nichols Pampered Chef web page right below. It is cancer month and the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and Heather is giving her own commission for the month to Jess and Jon. It is a wonderful thing that they and Heather are doing. But it is only this month. Thank you! :)

May 17th

Hi Everyone!

Jess had a busy weekend. She pushed herself a little too much, I think, but she wants to make herself stronger. I figured that it would catch up with her and when she text me today, it had. She and her pup, Rylie, were out on the couch. She was super tired. I told her that she needed to stay there and make sure that she was drking enough fluids. I know that it is probably good for her to do stuff, but it also always worries me. Always a Mom :) She has to go to Medford in the morning to have the bumps on her chest checked out. She is thinking that it is just a break out from the night sweats and the chemo. But they are worried that the port and lines are getting infected. They wanted her to come in tomorrow for a quick check, just to make sure. Shane is taking the day off of school tomorrow to take her. She of course said that she would go by herself, but we said no. I know that she wants to be as normal as possible...but lets be realstic...driving to Medford isn't. I will let you know how it all turns out. Please keep her in your prayers.

Love to all, Cindi

May 14th

Hello All,

Jess had two types of chemo again today. It went really smooth. She and Rob were back at home before I got home from work! She sure has been having it rough with them. Now she is done for two weeks!! :) We tried to get the doctor to move it arounds so that she could make it to Shane's graduation without feeling like heck, but she said no because she is getting two weeks off :( So we will just have to make do I guess. Today she asked the doctor about some break out that she has all over her chest. The doctor was a little worried about her port being infected. So she has to go back over on Tuesday to get it checked out. Jessi thinks that it is just because she has had bad night sweats because of the chemo. Hopefully she feels okay this coming week, but I don't think that she will because she hasn't so far. I will be glad when it is summer so I can keep a better eye on her. Please keep her in your prayers and I will keep you informed how she is doing this weekend. Love to all, Cindi

May 11th

Sorry!! Things have been a little crazy lately around here with work being extra busy, Jess not feeling well, Shane's senior stuff and his baseball games! Whew!!! But anyways, Jess hasn't been feeling well at all lately. This chemo seems to be way harsh and she isn't taking it well. She told me today that she doesn't have any energy and by the time she starts to get it (about a week after chemo) it is time to start again. I don't know how much longer she has on this particular chemo. Is it a full month or two? I will find out and let you all know. She has been resting a lot and hopefully drinking a lot too. We push her all the time to. Rob will be taking her this Friday for chemo. Please keep her in your prayers. Love to all, Cindi

May 7th

Hello,

Jess had chemo on Friday. Pat took the day off so he drove her over there. She hasn't been feeling really well lately so we were concerned about how her blood work would turn out. Pat said that she only lasted about ten minutes in the car before she fell into a deep sleep in the pickup. He said that he had to wake her up when they got to the cancer center. She ended up having thrush in her mouth and very low potassium levels. They gave her a prescription for a mouth wash and IV fluids for potassium. She got both chemos on Friday. On Monday she has to start steroids again (which she hates). This protocol seems to make her feel really yucky and tired a lot, but then at night she can't sleep very well...so it is very hard on her. I am not sure if she has to go back over there next Friday or not. I had forgotten to ask. Please keep her in your prayers as the next two months are going to be long ones (I feel like).

Love to all, Cindi

P.S. I also want to thank everyone for all of their help and support. We could not have done all the travel expenses and everything on our own. I am going to try to write up something for the newspaper. I am sorry that I won't be able to mention everyone. There has been so many! But I want you to know that we appreciate each and everyone of you!!!!! Love you guys!! :) We still have the South Valley account going since we still have over two years of chemo left, traveling back and forth to Medford and Portland for tests and appointments. Thanks!!

Tues, May 4th

Sorry...I have been so busy with work I haven't checked my email...this was a couple of days ago -Laura

Hey Everyone!

Jess over did it on Sunday fishing. I know that she wants to be as normal as possible but this is a super hard chemo and I think that she might have to do a little different these next two months. She has gotten it once before up in Portland, but she was in the hospital and on IVs and on a lot and steroids so I think that is why she didn't feel it like she is now. She has been taking it easy, but she has also had to push herself to do anything and sometimes that is hard. I think because she doesn't really realize how much she can push herself without hurting herself. She walked up and down a canyon on Sunday. She came to Shane's game tonight and said that it is the hardest chemo that she has ever felt. She has the same one on Friday. We are going to try to do it a little different this time...maybe she won't feel exhausted. Just like taking it easy on the first couple of days to see how it goes from there. Plus drinking lots to get it flushed quicker. Please keep her in your prayers. She still has a long road and I know that they help. Love you call, Cindi

May 1st

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update on Jess after chemo yesterday. She slept in late this morning and she said that she was all over exhausted. Plus she had an upset stomach that the nausea pills don't seem to be helping. So...she slept a lot today and really didn't eat or drink well. I made her dinner and a big drink. She seemed to feel better after that but was still really tired. I am sure glad that she has a week until the next round. This stuff seems to zap her strength so it could end up being a long two months. I will be sure to keep you all updated. Her dad wants to take her fishing with him tomorrow. Her brother Rob is up in the mountains camping with a friend by a really nice stream, so I think that it would do them all good to go have a relaxing day. Please keep her in your prayers. Love to all, Cindi
